Dolby Cinema Marks India Debut With First Screen Opening In Pune

The company notes that this is the first of six Dolby Cinema screens opening across India, including locations in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Ulikkal

Dolby Laboratories, Inc, a global player in immersive entertainment experiences, has made its debut in India with its first screen opening at City Pride, Pune. This auditorium is a 310-seater Dolby Cinema, purpose-built to deliver a premium movie-going experience, the company highlighted.

As per the official statement, with this opening, Pune becomes the first city in India to bring this cinematic experience to audiences, starting with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on 4 July 2025.

“The launch of Dolby Cinema in Pune marks a defining step in our long-term vision for India. With over 1,000 Dolby Atmos screens in India, now Dolby Cinema will set a new benchmark in premium cinematic entertainment in India. We have thoughtfully designed the entire cinema down to the last detail,” highlighted Michael Archer, Vice President of Worldwide Cinema Sales and Partner Management, Dolby Laboratories.

The company noted that this is the first of six Dolby Cinema screens opening across India, including locations in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Ulikkal. Only Dolby Cinema has both the quality of the Dolby Vision dual 4K laser projection system, together with the sound of studio grade Dolby Atmos, the company explained.

“We are proud to expand our collaboration with Dolby from Dolby Atmos screens to the launch of India’s first Dolby Cinema at Citypride Kharadi. Pune’s passion for premium entertainment makes it the ideal home for this experience,” noted Pushkaraj Chaphalkar, Partner, City Pride Multiplexes.
