Festive Season Sale: Ecommerce Order Volumes Up By 20% During The First 4 Days

Unicommerce report states that the gross merchandise value (GMV) also increased by 24 per cent during the same period as compared to the last year

Highlighting the surge in the popularity of ecommerce platforms among shoppers for their festive season shopping, a Unicommerce report has revealed that ecommerce order volumes grew by 20 per cent during the first four days (26 September to 29 September) of the festive season sale in 2024 as compared to the same period during the last year’s sale.

The report from Unicommerce has stated that the gross merchandise value (GMV) also increased by 24 per cent during the same period as compared to the last year. The categories that observed notable increase in volume include fashion and accessories with over 32 per cent growth with high demand for products like travel accessories, watches and kids apparel.

“Festive season sale has become an exciting phase of the year when everyone awaits the attractive offers and the extensive variety of products. While this continues as a trend year after year, we see an increasing number of brands participating in the sale season, affirming India’s status as a digitally forward country,” stated Kapil Makhija, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unicommerce.

As per the report, makeup products witnessed a 54 per cent YoY growth during this festive sale. The health and pharma segment, which clocked a sizable 33 per cent growth in volumes over last year, saw nutraceuticals and fitness supplements as the most demanded products in the category.

Unicommerce, an ecommerce enablement SaaS platform, analysed over 1.3 million order items processed through its platform during the initial days of the sale for both years, to assess the trends for this year. Other products that witnessed high demand during this period include phone accessories, books, sports and fitness products and healthy snacks among others.
