Godfrey Phillips Q1 Profit Drops 44% On Weak Revenue, Margins

Godfrey Phillips Q1 Results: Profit Falls 44%, Margins Contract Sharply

Tobacco maker reports lower earnings and operating profitability in the June quarter; fixes August 11 as record date for final dividend

Godfrey Phillips India reported a sharp decline in earnings for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, as weaker revenue and lower operating profitability impacted its financial performance. Consolidated net profit fell 44.3 per cent year-on-year to Rs 198 crore from Rs 356 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Revenue from operations declined 19 per cent to Rs 1,206 crore, compared with Rs 1,486 crore in the year-ago period. The fall in revenue was accompanied by a steeper decline in operating earnings, reflecting pressure on the company’s core business during the quarter.

Margins Under Pressure

Consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) dropped 46.2 per cent to Rs 182 crore from Rs 338 crore a year earlier. Consequently, the Ebitda margin narrowed to 15.1 per cent from 22.7 per cent in the corresponding quarter last year, indicating a significant contraction in operating profitability.

Separately, the company said its 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on 24 August 2026 at 2.30 p.m. through video conferencing or other audio-visual means. It has fixed 11 August 2026 as the record date for determining shareholders eligible to receive the final dividend for FY26.
