HUL Reorganising Its Reporting Structure Under New CEO Nair: Reports

HUL Announces Management Reshuffle, Shiva Krishnamurthy Joins Management Committee

Reports note that as the global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) giant is looking to boost growth in the Indian market, it is planning to give more autonomy to HUL

Aimed at streamlining decision-making, reducing bureaucracy, Hindustan Unilever or HUL is reorganising its reporting structure. The move will allow the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Priya Nair to have direct and exclusive oversight over every local function, as per media reports.

The reports noted that as the global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) giant is looking to boost growth in the Indian market, it is planning to give more autonomy to HUL. Under Rohit Jawa, the senior managers of HUL has to report to both global and local executives simultaneously, the reports emphasised. The new development is aimed at minimising the bureaucracy associated this dual reporting structure.

Nair is given a free hand to acquire new-age, direct-to-consumer brands, the report added. The new CEO has put more focus on the beauty and wellbeing segment. The company believes that the segment has high growth potential, but is hypercompetitive at the same time. The company acquired Indian startups earlier, with Minimalist and Oziva likely to hit 100 million Euros in combined revenue this year, the reports pointed out.

Earlier, the company’s global CEO Fernando Fernandez noted that the company was implementing a leadership reshuffle in India. The reports noted that the relationship with the Indian arm and Unilever is a mutually beneficial and interdependent one.

A veteran at HUL, Nair joined the company in 1995 and has held a variety of roles across its Home Care, Personal Care and Beauty and Wellbeing businesses. She previously served as Executive Director, Home Care (2014–2020), and Executive Director, Beauty and Personal Care (2020–2022), before taking on global roles, including Global Chief Marketing Officer for Beauty and Wellbeing and later President of the same division in 2023.
