Over 68 per cent of small and medium businesses (SMBs) participating in the event hailed from tier two to three cities and beyond

Emphasising that prime day 2025 was beneficial for small and medium businesses (SMBs) across India, Amazon India has stated that the number of SMBs receiving a sale during the recent sale period reached an all-time high across all editions. Around 70 per cent of new prime sign-ups before the event came from tier two and three cities and towns.

The company highlighted that over 68 per cent of SMBs participating in the event hailed from tier two to three cities and beyond. The demand for premium products was also on the rise, driven by increased affordability through options like No Cost equated monthly instalment (EMI), instant bank discounts, exchange offers, and additional coupon discounts.

“Thanks to our recent investment of Rs 2000 crore in the well-being of our associates and the scaling up our operations, we were able to deliver even faster and safer this year. I would also like to thank our delivery partners who continue to spread cheer to our Prime members with fast and reliable delivery pan India,” stated Akshay Sahi, Head of Amazon Prime, Delivery and Returns Experiences, India and Emerging Markets.

The premium smartphone segment (more than Rs 30,000) witnessed over 60 per cent growth in value. Nearly 70 per cent of this growth was contributed to by tier two & beyond cities. Samsung, Apple and OnePlus led this growth in the premium segment. Smartphones witnessed high double-digit growth in value during prime day 2025.

Amazon Fresh recorded its highest order volumes during prime day 2025, with tier two and beyonf cities leading growth at 90 per cent. Consumer electronics and personal computer (PC) witnessed strong growth across all categories, with AI-enabled laptops, premium tablets, health-focused wearables, and action cameras emerging as customer favorites, while premium audio segments saw strong double-digit growth and increased adoption in tier two cities.

Coffee consumption expanded nationally, outpacing tea with 1.3 times growth, particularly in tier two cities where it grew two times. Apparels grew up to 1.5 times, led by women’s traditional wear, men’s formalwear and eyewear. Amazon business witnessed a spike of three times in new customer registrations during prime day with seven times growth in prime sign-ups.

One out of four spends this prime day were on EMI. Nine out of 10 EMI purchases were driven by no cost EMI for the purchase of smartphones, electronics and large appliances. Amazon witnessed more than 30 per cent growth in no cost EMI, as per the official statement.
