Physics Wallah's Co-Founder Unveils Expansion Plans For 100 Offline Centers

Based on a report, Edtech company Physics Wallah wants to increase its offline presence by growing to 100 centres from its existing 64. In 2023, the company plans to open 50 physical locations.

About 140,000 students received services from the company in 2023, and another 240,000 will receive them the following year, according to co-founder Prateek Maheshwari. Within the following year, Physics Wallah hopes to grow to 100 locations.

Although 95 percent of its customers are online learners, the company’s intention to create more offline locations appears to be the result of tactical considerations. With an approximate technology investment of Rs 82 crore, the company launched 50 physical locations in May under the “Vidyapeeth Centres” name.

Physics Wallah is a tech-first, internet-first organisation, according to Maheshwari, but it’s going offline to serve those who struggled to be consistent or self-disciplined online.

Physics Wallah is developing a language-neutral generative artificial intelligence (AI) study guide called Alakh AI. The goal of the AI programme is to help students with both academic and non-academic needs. It bears Alakh Pandey’s name, the second cofounder of the firm. The company plans to release Alakh AI in February.

Maheshwari added that several students are still connecting from far-flung locations, even though they lack access to a dependable internet connection. The company is creating lessons that students from the nation’s tier-5 cities can access via extremely low bandwidth.

In addition, Physics Wallah has declared its intention to hire 1,100 individuals in the next six months, of whom 60 percent will be instructors and the other personnel will be non-teaching personnel. The company announced the commencement of the “Mission JRF” (Junior Research Fellowship) series on December 18, in preparation for the June 2024 University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET).
