T Koshy Steps Down As ONDC MD & CEO

The reports state that the MD and CEO responsibilities have been transitioned to an executive committee

T Koshy, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Open Network of Digital Commerce (ONDC) has decided to step down from his role after a three-year stint. As per the reports, the board is temporarily in charge of the body as the MD and CEO responsibilities have been transitioned to an executive committee.

The media reports added that Koshy’s final day will be 30 June 2025 and the board has no instant plan to look for a replacement. Prior to his role at ONDC, Koshy was with the consultancy firm EY as a partner for over a decade. Earlier, he was the Executive Director of the National Security Depository or NSDL, where he served for over 14 years.

While Koshy has expressed his desire to step down, he will be helping on with the change, as per the media reports which cited the network. Koshy will be available to the board over the next three months for advise.

“As with any dynamic and evolving organisation, a leadership change is currently underway. Koshy has expressed his desire to step down while helping on with the change. The MD and CEO responsibilities have been transitioned to an executive committee with Koshy available to the board over the next three months for advise,” as per the official statement from ONDC.

Last month, ONDC officially crossed the 200 million transaction mark. While it took the network around 20 months (from January 2023 to August 2024) to reach the first 100 million, it added the next 100 million in nearly six months. As per the official statement, this acceleration underscores how ONDC has transitioned from an ambitious initiative to a nationwide movement, powering large-scale adoption across food and beverage (F&B), grocery, retail, logistics, mobility and financial services.
