Local manufacturer rolls out 190–230 litre models with up to 10-year compressor warranty
Summercool Home Appliances has forayed into India’s competitive refrigerator market, expanding beyond its core air coolers and small appliances portfolio as it looks to strengthen its presence in the mass and mid-segment home appliances space.
The company has launched a range of single-door refrigerators in 190 litre, 210 litre and 230 litre capacities, available in multiple energy rating variants. The models come with a warranty of up to 10 years on the compressor, a move aimed at building consumer confidence in a category dominated by established national and multinational brands.
The refrigerators are being manufactured at the company’s facilities in Uttar Pradesh, aligning with its domestic production strategy. While pricing details were not disclosed, the company indicated that the new range is targeted at value-conscious households seeking affordable and energy-efficient cooling solutions.
The products are currently available through offline retail channels and are expected to be rolled out online via the company’s website and e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart.
Ashutosh Gupta, Director of Sales and Marketing at the company, said the expansion was driven by sustained customer demand. “We are thrilled to expand our product portfolio with the launch of our refrigerator range in India. With this expansion, we’re aiming to become a reliable name in the refrigerator market, offering trusted and affordable cooling solutions,” he said.
Managing Director Sanjeev Kumar Gupta described the launch as part of a broader diversification strategy. “Our team has worked hard to ensure these refrigerators reflect what today’s consumers need – reliability, comfort, and value,” he said.
Summercool currently operates through more than 500 direct distributors and has a presence in 10,000–12,000 retail outlets across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Nepal, along with select markets in Maharashtra and Hyderabad. The company said it plans to expand distribution of the refrigerator range to metro cities as well as tier 2 and 3 towns, supported by a growing after-sales service network.
