As the clock ticked closer to New Year’s Eve, Swiggy Instamart deliveries showed some interesting statistics related to how India shopped on the NYE. From Chips to grapes to protein bars, people shopped for healthy and not so healthy stuff on Swiggy bringing in 2025.
Phani Kishan, Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer of Swiggy, shared some insights into the platform’s NYE shopping. “We’ve already surpassed last year’s New Year’s Eve orders earlier today and are on track to double our sales from NYE 2023,” he revealed. Notably, Swiggy Instamart achieved its highest-ever order record, eclipsing even Diwali 2024 sales, and the late-night rush is still ongoing.
Cities Leading the Party Parade
Cities like Ludhiana, Rajkot, Pondicherry, and Kanpur are ordering 2-3 times more than the daily average, proving their party spirit. Bhubaneswar and Mangaluru emerged as the busiest new additions to Swiggy’s ever-expanding network, with a user in Bhubaneswar placing a staggering Rs 12,000 order for protein bars to kick start their New Year.
It may be noted that across Swiggy’s 42 new cities, including Kozhikode and Vapi, people are experiencing their first NYE celebrations with the platform, adding a layer of excitement to the festivities.
Food Trends & Fun Highlights

Among the more eyebrow-raising orders were handcuffs and blindfolds, sparking curiosity about the night’s plans.
International Love and Unique Searches
Swiggy Instamart also saw love pouring in from overseas, with the US, UK, and Australia being the top countries sending gifts to families in India. Among the top searches were milk, chips, chocolates, grapes, and paneer, showcasing India’s diverse party preferences.
