Bacardi-owned tequila brand introduces a new social drinking concept centred on its signature PATRÓN Picante cocktail and at-home mixology kits
PATRÓN Tequila has launched ‘Spicy Hour’, a new experiential cocktail platform aimed at capitalising on the growing popularity of spicy margaritas and premium social drinking occasions among consumers.
The initiative centres on the brand’s signature PATRÓN Picante cocktail and reflects a broader trend towards flavour-led, experience-driven consumption in the premium spirits market.
Developed using PATRÓN Reposado tequila, the PATRÓN Picante combines fresh lime, agave and chilli to create a cocktail that balances heat, sweetness and citrus notes. The brand said the concept is designed to bring together bold flavours and high-energy social experiences.
As part of the launch, PATRÓN has also introduced a curated at-home cocktail-making kit, enabling consumers to recreate the cocktail experience in private gatherings and home-based social settings.
The move comes as premium spirits brands increasingly seek to engage consumers beyond traditional bar environments through immersive experiences, mixology-led activations and home-consumption occasions.
Commenting on the launch, Goodies Narayan, CMO Bacardi said, “Spicy Hour has been created to tap into a new kind of social occasion, one that feels energetic, spontaneous, and elevated at the same time, while delivering memorable moments embedded in culture.”
Premium Tequila Gains Ground
The launch underscores the growing appeal of tequila-based cocktails within India’s evolving premium beverage market, where consumers are increasingly experimenting with new flavour profiles and elevated drinking experiences.
Spicy cocktails, particularly spicy margaritas, have emerged as one of the fastest-growing trends across bars, restaurants and social gatherings globally, prompting brands to create dedicated experiences around the category.
Industry observers note that younger consumers are increasingly seeking beverages that combine distinctive flavours, craftsmanship and shareable social experiences, creating opportunities for premium spirits brands to expand beyond conventional product marketing.
Focus on Experience-Led Consumption
With Spicy Hour, PATRÓN is positioning itself at the intersection of premiumisation and experiential consumption, two themes that continue to shape growth across the alcoholic beverages industry.
The addition of an at-home cocktail kit also reflects the continued popularity of home mixology, a trend that gained momentum in recent years and remains an important engagement channel for premium spirits brands.
PATRÓN, part of the portfolio of Bacardi, is produced in the Highlands of Jalisco using 100 per cent Weber Blue Agave and remains one of the world’s best-known luxury tequila brands.
The company said the new platform aims to create culturally relevant social occasions while strengthening consumer engagement around its premium tequila portfolio.
