Sagar Daryani-backed street-food QSR eyes expansion beyond Kolkata and Pune

Wah! Foods, the company behind Wah! Puchka and Wah! Litti, is targeting annual revenue of Rs 250 crore by FY30 as it looks to scale its street-food quick-service restaurant (QSR) business beyond its current markets of Kolkata and Pune.

The company said it has established outlet-level profitability, standard operating procedures, centralised supply chains and technology-enabled systems, and will now focus on strengthening its presence in existing markets before entering new cities through a cluster-led expansion strategy.

Wah! Foods has also secured backing from Sagar Daryani, founder of Wow! Momo, who has invested in the company in his personal capacity. The company did not disclose the investment amount or stake.

The business said it plans to expand through compact high-street outlets supported by dedicated city-level teams. It has not disclosed a target for the number of outlets it plans to operate by FY30. The company has reported nearly threefold growth over the past 12 months, according to co-founder Ankita, who attributed the performance to higher repeat customer behaviour and improved marketing returns.

“The customer is our real investor. When customers return without discounts, it validates both our product and experience,” Ankita said. She added that the company is now focusing on strengthening its team and operating systems ahead of its next phase of growth.

Packaged Food Foray
Beyond its restaurant business, Wah! Foods is preparing to enter the packaged-food segment with products based on Indian street-food offerings. The company currently operates Wah! Puchka and Wah! Litti across Kolkata and Pune, and plans to use the QSR business as the base for expanding its presence in the organised Indian street-food market.

Daryani said the opportunity lies in organising street-food categories that already have a large consumer base while maintaining consistency and hygiene at scale. “Street food is one of them. The brand that can bring together authenticity, hygiene, consistency and scale has the potential to create an iconic consumer business,” Daryani said.
