Marriott Bonvoy expands rewards beyond travel, allowing users in India to earn hotel points on food delivery, groceries and dining
Hotel loyalty points can now be earned on food delivery and grocery purchases in India after Marriott Bonvoy partnered with Swiggy to extend its rewards ecosystem beyond travel-related spending. Under the collaboration, users who link their accounts will earn five Marriott Bonvoy points for every Rs 500 spent across Swiggy’s services, including food delivery, grocery deliveries through Instamart and restaurant bookings via Dineout.
The move reflects a broader shift among hospitality companies to integrate loyalty programmes with everyday consumer platforms, allowing members to accumulate rewards outside hotel stays and travel, the company said in the issued release.
Extending Loyalty Beyond Travel
Marriott Bonvoy members typically earn points through hotel stays and travel experiences. The partnership with Swiggy now allows users to accumulate points through routine transactions such as ordering meals, hosting dinners or stocking up on groceries.
The points earned can later be redeemed for stays, travel experiences and other benefits across Marriott’s global portfolio of hotels.
The collaboration also offers additional perks to frequent travellers. Marriott Bonvoy elite members across tiers, including silver, gold, platinum, titanium and ambassador will receive complimentary membership to Swiggy One, which provides free deliveries, discounts and other benefits across Swiggy’s services.
Growing Loyalty Ecosystem In India
The partnership is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s broader effort to expand its loyalty ecosystem in India through collaborations across sectors. The programme already offers a co-branded credit card with HDFC Bank and has partnered with platforms across ecommerce, sports and entertainment to drive engagement beyond traditional travel occasions.
Swiggy has also been expanding its rewards network into travel and lifestyle partnerships, including with Indigo.
“Marriott Bonvoy has always been about creating meaningful connections with our members. With Swiggy, we are bringing loyalty into everyday life, turning daily spend into future travel. This strategic partnership allows us to meet members where they are, making Marriott Bonvoy more immediate, relevant and just a tap away,” said John Toomey, Commercial Officer, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International.
Phani Kishan Addepalli, Chief Growth Officer and Co-founder, Swiggy, said the partnership aims to turn everyday spending into travel rewards for consumers. “Everyday convenience is where Swiggy shows up for consumers, whether it’s through food, quick commerce, or unique experiences. With Marriott Bonvoy, we’re turning these everyday moments into something more rewarding by letting users earn global travel benefits and stay with Marriott,” he said.
The companies said the partnership reflects changing consumer behaviour in markets like India, where digital platforms are increasingly used for everyday purchases and loyalty programmes are evolving to keep users engaged more frequently.
