The study, which covered 3,000 gamers across 15 Indian cities, also found that gamers are willing to invest over Rs 1 lakh on average for a gaming PC.
Key reasons for preferring PCs over mobiles for gaming include better FPS (frames per second) and display.
The study revealed a significant rise in gaming income in India compared to 2022. Almost half of the serious gamer respondents reported earning between 6 to 12 lakh per annum in 2023.
Beyond gaming, the industry is influencing career aspirations, with respondents expressing interest in roles such as influencers or esports managers. Nearly 40 percent of parents acknowledge a positive shift in their perception of gaming, attributed to the industry’s growth.
Despite this positivity, concerns about career stability and potential social isolation persist among parents. The study also highlights the widespread adoption of gaming beyond metro cities, with a notable increase in serious gamers in non-metro areas.
Furthermore, the study said 75 per cent of Gen Z, 67 per cent of Millennials, and 58 percent of women respondents identified as serious gamers among the participants.”
