Pinterest Searches For Kids’ Outdoor Games, Crafts Surge In India

India parents drive 975 per cent surge in outdoor games searches

Parenting trend report shows rising demand for screen-free activities and hands-on learning for young children

Searches on Pinterest for children’s outdoor games in India have surged nearly tenfold, signalling a growing push by parents to encourage screen-free activities and real-world learning for young children, according to the platform’s first Parenting Trend Report.

According to the report, the searches for “outside games” rose 975 per cent, one of the sharpest increases among parenting-related queries in India, reflecting families’ growing interest in physical play and social interaction for toddlers and preschool-aged children.

Interest in creative learning activities has also climbed sharply. Searches for “farm animals crafts for toddlers” increased 965 per cent, while “color pink activities for preschool” rose 955 per cent and “baby footprint crafts” grew 940 per cent, pointing to a shift toward tactile, low-tech activities that support early childhood development.

Educational resources for young children are also gaining traction on the platform. Queries for “fun worksheets for kids” jumped 860 per cent and “baby learning activities” increased 785 per cent, suggesting parents are incorporating structured learning into everyday routines at home.

Globally, parents are also searching more frequently for ways to reduce children’s exposure to digital devices. Searches for “screen free activities” and “family traditions ideas” have each risen more than 200 per cent, while interest in “no phone summer” has surged 340 per cent, according to the report.

Platform Emerging As Planning Hub
The trends indicate that parents are increasingly planning activities that combine learning, creativity and physical play rather than relying on digital entertainment.

“Creating screen-smart childhoods takes intention, imagination and time — something many parents today are balancing thoughtfully,” said Ayumi Nakajima, Senior Director, Content Partnerships, APAC, Pinterest.

“In India and around the world, we’re seeing parents turn to Pinterest to discover and curate meaningful offline activities, be it early learning crafts or outdoor play. As parents rethink how their children spend their free time, Pinterest helps turn inspiration into real-world moments that nurture creativity, connection and lasting memories,” she added.,” Nakajima added.

Pinterest said the platform is increasingly being used as a planning tool by parents seeking practical ideas for children’s development and everyday activities.
