The central government is soon going to announce the long pending ecommerce policy and rules for ecommerce business in the country.
In a meeting with Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Secretary General of CAIT on Diwali day at his residence, Goyal said that both these documents are ready & will be notified immediately after his return from the USA.
Goyal left for the USA yesterday on a 4-day visit to attend the Indo-Pacific Economic Forum meeting and will return on 17 November.
For the last two years, the DPIIT in the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs have discussed this issue through about 80 meetings with all the stakeholders and finally, in a meeting held in the Ministry of Commerce on 2 August, the policy and rules were finalized among all the stakeholders.
Apart from the Secretaries of DPIIT and Consumer Affairs, many senior officials of both the ministries and representatives of CAIT, Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance, TataClick, Misho, Snapdeal, ShipRocket etc. were also present in this meeting while Shri Piyush Goyal participated through video conference.
