India’s agriculture exports, presently exceeding USD 50 billion, are set to witness a significant surge, potentially doubling to reach USD 100 billion by 2030, as stated by Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal on Monday.
Addressing the audience at the IndusFood Show 2024 in Greater Noida, Barthwal expressed confidence in the growth trajectory, stating, “I am very sure that this USD 50 billion exports of India today will see a doubling of our exports by 2030 to almost USD 100 billion.”
In addition to the optimistic outlook for agriculture exports, Barthwal outlined the country’s broader trade ambitions.
India aims to achieve USD 2 trillion in exports of goods and services by the year 2030, reflecting a comprehensive strategy to boost various sectors.
The statement comes as India continues to position itself as a major player in the global agriculture market.
The target of doubling agriculture exports aligns with the government’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the agriculture sector, tapping into international markets and diversifying export offerings.
