Lenovo Launches Computers With Motherboards Made In India

Tech major Lenovo on Friday said that it is launching Preferential Market Access (PMA) compliant PCs with its ‘made in India’ motherboard, underscoring its commitment to strengthen and expand its manufacturing footprint in the country.

The company said the move has qualified it for the Class 1 PMA bracket with over 50 per cent of components being fulfilled through local manufacturing for a select range of products, as per reports.

This notification came close on the heels of Lenovo’s unveiling of a shared support centre in Bengaluru in August this year, with a planned investment to advance local R&D and job creation in India.

Furthermore, the report underlined Saurabh Agrawal, Chief Operating Officer, Lenovo India’s statement.  He said that India is a strategic market in terms of the Centre’s ‘Make in India’ push and Lenovo is fully committed in participating or being a part of local manufacturing.

PMA is the policy notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to domestically manufacture electronic products in government procurement for its own use and not with a view to commercial resale.
