Radhakishan Damani, the man behind D-Mart, has secured the top spot on the list of self-made entrepreneurs, according to a recent announcement by Hurun,

Damani took the top spot with a market capitalisation of Rs 2,38,188 crore. “The company’s success can be attributed to its focus on efficient operations, low-cost business model, and strong customer value proposition. D-Mart went public in 2017 and has continued to expand its footprint, catering to the growing consumer demand in India,” the list said.

Meanwhile, Flipkart’s Binny and Sachin Bansal came in second place on this list, with a market valuation of Rs 1,19,472 crore.

Deepinder Goyal of Zomato placed third, with a market capitalisation of Rs 86,835 crore. Swiggy’s Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy (Rs 66,542 crore) and Dream 11’s Bhavit Sheth and Harsh Jain (Rs 66,542 crore) tied for fourth place.

Razorpay founders Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar came in sixth place with Rs 62,384 crore. With a market valuation of Rs 55,085 crore and Rs 54,328 crore, respectively, Abhay Soi of Max Healthcare Institute and Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm ranked seventh and eighth.

Kunal Shah, the founder of Indian finance business Cred, and Nithin, Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha were also included among the Top 10 self-made entrepreneurs. Their market capitalizations were Rs 53,234 crore and Rs 50,630 crore, respectively.

Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gurugram lead the list, highlighting their importance as key entrepreneurship hubs. The highlighted enterprises have a combined worth of Rs 30 lakh crore, indicating a considerable contribution to the Indian economy.

“Notably, a substantial portion of the companies has expanded globally, demonstrating their ambition and growth potential. The inclusion of young founders born in the 1990s and women entrepreneurs highlights the diversity and dynamism of the entrepreneurial ecosystem,” the report said.
