Amazon is accelerating the expansion of its ultra-fast delivery service Amazon Now by opening two new micro-fulfillment centres a day. This expansion enables customers in more neighbourhoods of Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai to get thousands of everyday essentials from sellers, delivered within 10 minutes.

Since its debut in Bengaluru earlier this year, Amazon Now has expanded its service to three cities ahead of the festive season with 100 micro-fulfilment centres. The company now aims to end the year at well over 300 micro-fulfillment centres. Amazon Now offers a curated selection of daily essentials including groceries, personal care, beauty products, electronic accessories, small appliances, baby products, pet supplies and more.

“We are excited to see customer response to Amazon Now and have accelerated our expansion plans. We will end the year at well over 300 micro-fulfillment centres and are not slowing down – opening two such centres a day across Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. This rapid scale-up reflects our commitment to serving more neighborhoods with the speed and selection customers expect from Amazon,” stated Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India.

Amazon Now is powered by strategically located micro-fulfillment centres. These centres position essential selection close to customer neighborhoods, utilising advanced inventory systems that optimise product placement based on hyperlocal demand to maximise efficiency and speed with safety, the company stated in an official statement. These centres combine Amazon’s operational expertise with proximity-based delivery, the statement noted.
