Typsy Beauty Raises Rs 20 Crore To Expand Quick Commerce, Retail

The Gurugram-based makeup brand plans to expand quick-commerce and offline distribution and enter hybrid skincare-makeup products

Gurugram-based makeup brand Typsy Beauty has raised Rs 20 crore in a funding round led by US-based venture capital firm Saama Capital. The company will use the funds to expand its quick-commerce and offline retail presence, enter hybrid skincare-makeup products and strengthen its fragrance portfolio.

The round also saw participation from Sanjay Kapoor, Founder of Genesis Luxury and an early investor in Typsy Beauty; Tanaaz Bhatia, Founder and CEO of Bottomline Media; SRF Group; and the family offices of Havells and Eicher Motors.

Founded in 2022 by Kairavi Bharat Ram, Typsy Beauty offers makeup products across lips, eyes, face and fragrance. The brand currently has 27 stock-keeping units (SKUs) and sells through its website and marketplaces including Nykaa, Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart and Tira, along with quick-commerce platforms Blinkit and Zepto. It plans to launch more than 10 new products in the coming months.

The company said the new capital will support wider distribution through quick commerce and offline retail. It will also be used to enter skincare with hybrid skincare-makeup products and expand Typsy Fragrances.

“Typsy started because I couldn’t find an Indian brand that made me feel the way my favourite international products did. We set out to change that – not by cutting corners on formulation, but by partnering with the best labs in the world and bringing those products to India at prices that don’t shut people out. This funding lets us do that across more categories and for many more consumers,” said Kairavi Bharat Ram, Founder, Typsy Beauty.

“We’ve built a business with strong fundamentals – healthy contribution margins and a repeatable growth playbook across eight marketplaces. This investment gives us the resources to accelerate into new categories and wider distribution while maintaining the discipline that got us here,” said Shashank Tibrewal, Co-Founder, Typsy Beauty.

Saama Capital said Typsy Beauty has identified an opportunity in India’s beauty market by offering products positioned against international brands while retaining accessible pricing.

“Typsy Beauty has demonstrated what happens when strong product instinct meets operational discipline. The team has identified genuine whitespace in India’s beauty market and filled it with products that compete with international brands on quality while remaining accessible. We’re excited to back Kairavi, Shashank, and the team as they scale this vision,” said a spokesperson for Saama Capital.

Founded in 2006, Saama Capital manages approximately USD 350 million in assets and has invested in companies including Paytm, BlueStone, Supertails, Veeba, Mokobara, Go Zero and Gully Labs.
