The Body Shop Expands Braille Integration Across Activist Stores

Currently featured in five stores across Mumbai, New Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bangalore, the Braille initiative is set to be implemented in additional locations by the end of 2025

On World Braille Day, 4 January The Body Shop reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity by announcing plans to expand its Braille integration initiative across Activist Stores in India. This innovative programme, which debuted in 2024, allows visually impaired customers to navigate beauty shopping more inclusively.

Currently featured in five stores across Mumbai, New Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bangalore, the Braille initiative is set to be implemented in additional locations by the end of 2025. The expansion marks a significant step in the brand’s phased approach to integrating Braille category call-outs, creating a fully inclusive shopping experience.

Harmeet Singh, Chief Brand Officer of The Body Shop-Asia South, highlighted the initiative’s impact, stating, “This first-of-its-kind move represents a milestone in accessibility and inclusivity in India’s beauty retail landscape.”

The initiative began at the Activist Workshop store in Mumbai’s Palladium Mall as part of The Body Shop’s 18th-anniversary celebration. It has since grown, driven by positive feedback from customers and community engagement.

Beyond accessibility, The Body Shop champions diversity and inclusion through its Youth Collective Council, focusing on sustainability, gender sensitivity, and inclusive hiring practices. The brand’s initiatives, including immersive workshops, showcase its leadership in fostering a more inclusive beauty retail environment.

As a pioneer in ethical beauty, The Body Shop continues to lead by example, blending innovation with social responsibility to empower communities and create a positive impact globally.
