Bigbasket Sees 500% Spike In Diwali Festive Sales

Bigbasket Targets 2025 IPO After Turning Profitable

Electronics, gold, silver coins, and festive essentials drive significant growth in Bigbasket’s Diwali 2025 sales across India

Bigbasket, a Tata Enterprise, recorded a 500 per cent year-on-year increase in festive sales during Diwali 2025, led primarily by a surge in electronics purchases. Popular categories included iPhones, lighting and accessories, home and kitchen appliances, and audio devices, as customers upgraded their homes ahead of the festival.

Electronics alone saw a 500 per cent increase in sales, attributed to festive deals and top brand offerings on the platform. The growth was supported by the partnership between Bigbasket and Croma, which enabled instant delivery and leveraged Tata’s credibility among consumers.

Festive shopping began 15 days before Diwali, with Dhanteras driving strong demand for gold and silver coins, which increased 1,000% compared to last year. The early start to festive sales, beginning in the first week of October, contributed to overall growth.

Pooja essentials rose 35 per cent year on year, with fresh flowers and leaves seeing a 45 per cent increase. Devotional products from the Daivya Sparsh brand, including agarbattis, dhoops, and champors, grew 90 per cent, while diyas, lighting, and decorative items saw a 40 per cent increase. Sales of Diwali sweets and chocolates increased by 50 per cent, and crockery, utensils, and other festive items grew by 170 per cent compared to the previous year.

“This Diwali, Bigbasket ensured customers could celebrate every aspect of the festival, from decorations to pooja essentials, to sweets and thoughtful gifting without compromise. Gifting this year extended beyond traditional hampers and chocolates to include electronics, making it easier than ever to surprise loved ones. Our growth reflects how technology and tradition are coming together seamlessly, enabling memorable and hassle-free celebrations for every household”, said Seshu Kumar, Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer, Bigbasket.
