The reports state that Schumacher, who joined in July 2023, is leaving by mutual agreement
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unilever Hein Schumacher will be stepping down from his position in March 2025 after under two years in the role, as per a report by Reuters. The report states that Schumacher will be succeeded by the consumer goods giant’s finance chief Fernando Fernandez.
The report stated that the decision comes just weeks after the company reported underwhelming full-year earnings. Schumacher was responsible for resetting the strategy of the group to address underperformance. He laid out cost cuts last year, including the decision to separate its ice cream business.
Schumacher will be stepping down as CEO in March and will be leaving the company on 31 May. Schumacher, who joined in July 2023, is leaving by mutual agreement, according to the Reuters report which cited the company.
Stating that the board was committed to further accelerating Schumacher’s growth plan, the company which owns Hellmann’s mayonnaise, Dove soap said that the outlook for 2025 and the outlook for medium-term forecast remain unchanged, as per the report.
As far as the replacements are concerned, Reuters reported that Fernandez, who will be taking over, was finance chief for a year and was the President Latin America and CEO Brazil during his previous roles. Unilever’s current deputy Chief Financial Officer and group controller, Srinivas Phatak will be the acting CFO as the company looks for a permanent replacement, as per the report.
