Amazon's Karigar Mela To Showcase India's Sustainable Crafts

Amazon Now has become the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in the company’s history

Amazon has rolled out its plans to build India’s largest ‘delivery in minutes’ network by scaling Amazon Now, its quick commerce arm, to customers in over 300 cities across the country. Amazon Now has become the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in the company’s history with orders having doubled every quarter since commencement.

The company said that it will scale up its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to offer a larger selection of products to customers. The company has also started ‘Sammaan’, a dedicated program focused on the welfare of delivery associates powering its ecommerce and quick commerce business.

A portion of Amazon India’s recently notified USD 300 million investment in operations and associate well-being will go towards strengthening and scaling this program. As part of the program, Amazon will also expand its Ashray rest centers to 250 locations this year, open to any delivery associate in the industry.

“We are seeing a great response from customers, especially Prime members who triple their shopping frequency once they start using Amazon Now. We have further accelerated our expansion and will offer ultra-fast deliveries to customers in over 300 cities of India,” stated Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India.

Amazon CEO’s India Visit
Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy has reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to India during a visit that underscores the strategic importance of one of Amazon’s fastest-growing global markets.

During his visit, Jassy met senior government officials, entrepreneurs, startup founders and Amazon employees, while outlining the company’s plans to deepen its presence across e-commerce, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and quick commerce.

The visit comes as Amazon intensifies competition in India’s rapidly expanding digital commerce sector and continues to invest heavily in infrastructure, technology and logistics capabilities.

Amazon has already committed to investing more than USD 35 billion in India by 2030, making the country one of its most significant international markets outside the United States.
