The move comes as Bigbasket intensifies efforts to scale faster deliveries, expand assortment and strengthen its platform capabilities across metros and emerging cities, where competition among ecommerce and quick commerce players continues to rise.

Nanda joins Bigbasket from Amazon India, where he served as Director, Selling Partner Services, overseeing key parts of the marketplace and third-party seller ecosystem. His appointment brings platform-scale and marketplace experience at a time when Bigbasket is deepening its digital commerce capabilities.

According to the company issued statement, During his 11-year tenure at Amazon, Nanda held leadership roles across marketplace operations, product, technology and private brands, including work on scaling owned-brand portfolios. He has also worked with Hindustan Unilever and Citibank, bringing experience across consumer goods, financial services and digital commerce.

Co-founders Hari Menon and Vipul Parekh will continue on the Board and remain involved in mentoring the leadership team, ensuring continuity in strategy and governance as operational leadership transitions to Nanda.

On his appointment, Amit Nanda said he aims to build on Bigbasket’s consumer trust and scale its next phase of growth in quick commerce. “I am incredibly excited to join Bigbasket and build upon the phenomenal trust it has established with millions of consumers across India. Combining Bigbasket’s customer-first values with the trusted legacy of the Tata Group creates a strong foundation for the future,” he said.

Hari Menon said Nanda’s experience across ecommerce and consumer businesses positions him well to lead the company’s next phase of expansion in a rapidly evolving market.

Sajith Sivanandan, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Digital and Chairman of Bigbasket, said the appointment strengthens the group’s broader digital consumer ecosystem and supports its long-term growth strategy in ecommerce and quick commerce.
