The reports state that under its 10-minute food delivery service, the company is providing items like coffee, tea, juices, meal bowls and desserts
Marking its entry in the rapid food delivery market, BigBasket, a grocery delivery firm, has started providing 10-minute food delivery services in a few locations in Bengaluru, as per the reports. The latest service includes items from Starbucks, a joint venture between Tata Consumer Products and Starbucks Corporation, and Qmin, an Indian Hotels Company-owned food delivery platform.
Under its 10-minute food delivery service, the company is providing items like coffee, tea, juices, meal bowls and desserts, the reports noted. In a post on X on 31 December 2024, Hari Menon, the co-founder and Chief Executive of the company, stated that the firm will be expanding its services to food delivery in 2025.
Menon added in the post that BigBasket would increase its stock-keeping units (SKUs) to over 30,000 in all tier-one cities, and offer pharma deliveries with Tata 1mg, the reports mentioned. Earlier, reports noted that Tata Sons was not satisfied with BigBasket’s efforts to tap the rising quick commerce market.
As far as the growth of quick commerce is concerned, a report by Bain and Company, in collaboration with Flipkart, stated that quick commerce is projected to grow at over 40 per cent annually through 2030, driven by expansion across categories, geographies, and customer segments.
In 2024, more than two-thirds of all electronic grocery orders and one-tenth of electronic retail spend happened on quick commerce platforms, the report noted, while adding that players have also unlocked a profitable model to scale up through a blend of customer-facing and back-end initiatives.
