The facility, which spans 40,000 square feet, will manufacture the company’s core products including idli-dosa batter and parotas
In line with its efforts to expand capacity to meet growing demand, ready-to-cook food brand iD Fresh Food has opened a Rs 25 crore manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. The latest addition is the company’s fourth production plant on the country.
The facility, which spans 40,000 square feet, will manufacture the company’s core products including idli-dosa batter and parotas and has led to a significant increase in the production capacity for these categories. The reports noted that the company has designed the plant in such a way that it can also be used to produce chapatis in the future.
The company is looking to strengthen its regional supply chain and the latest addition will meet the demand from states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. Local community dominate the workforce at the plant, which currently employs over 200 people. It also incorporates sustainability features, which involve use of solar energy and water recycling systems.
The competition in the RTC and ready-to-eat food categories has intensified in the recent times. Earlier, DSM Fresh Foods, a technology-enabled fresh foods platform operating under the ZappFresh brand, has notified that board of directors has approved the acquisition of a 51 per cent controlling stake in Avyom Foodtech or AFPL.
With this, the company has entered into the ready-to-eat (RTE) and ready-to-cook (RTC) categories, along with expansion into overseas export markets. As part of its strategy to expand into the ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook food segment, DSM Fresh Foods has introduced Meevaa Foods, its new frozen vegetarian snacks brand.
The company aims to address the growing demand for safe, hygienic and convenient food options among urban consumers. Over the next two to three years, the company plans to invest around Rs 10 crore to scale its frozen food operations, strengthen processing capabilities and expand its product portfolio.
