Bender was appointed as the interim CEO, following the ouster of Ashley Buchanan
After interviewing several candidates, Kohl’s Corp is expected to appoint Michael Bender as its permanent chief executive, as per a report by Bloomberg News. Bender has been working as the interim CEO, effective immediately, following the ouster of Ashley Buchanan.
The company fired its former CEO Buchanan in May after an investigation which revealed his undisclosed personal relationship with a vendor. Buchanan aggressively pursued deals of the vendor, as per the report. The firing marked the third CEO change in three years for the company.
The report noted that Bender brings over 30 years of senior leadership experience. Bender previously worked with major retailers such as Walmart, Victoria’s Secret and Eyemart Express. Bender was named as the interim CEO when the existing CEO was fired and the company said that it would soon start the search for a permanent CEO.
