Isha Ambani notes that whenever costs go down, the customers must get the benefit in their wallets
Emphasising that the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) will bring relief to household budgets and simplify compliance for the industry, Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures or RRVL, has stated that Reliance Retail will pass on the entire benefit of the new GST regime to customers.
“Reliance Retail is fully committed to ensuring that the entire benefit of this reform reaches our customers transparently and without any delay. Our pledge is simple: whenever costs go down, our customers must get the benefit in their wallets, Ambani said in a statement.
The statement pointed out that by reducing costs, keeping inflation in check, improving efficiency, and enabling greater scale, this will create opportunities for every stakeholder in the retail value chain, including farmers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), producers, suppliers, kiranas and the end-consumers.
Mukesh D Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, stated that the reform will serve as a big booster to India’s economic growth. With the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate having reached 7.8 per cent in the first quarter of this financial year, the new reforms have the potential to accelerate the economy even further, raising the growth rate closer to double digits, he added.
RRVL, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, operates an integrated omnichannel network of 19,592 stores and digital commerce platforms across grocery, consumer electronics, fashion and lifestyle and pharma consumption baskets. Reliance Retail has a registered customer base of over 358 million. RRVL reported a consolidated turnover of Rs 3,30,870 crore and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of Rs 25,053 crore for the year ended 31 March 2025.
