Earlier this year, Swiggy had temporarily suspended its on-demand pickup and drop service, Swiggy Genie, citing operational constraints
Swiggy, an on-demand convenience platform, is shutting down Minis, an online service for small businesses to develop their digital presence, as per the media reports. The services on the platform will cease to function from 10 August.
Minis was the company’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that enabled direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands as well as local stores to build their online stores without having the need to build an app or website. The reports noted that it worked on a zero-commission model.
The reports noted that the decision to wind up operations of Minis comes at a time when the platform is facing tough competition from rivals in its core operation, which is food delivery and quick commerce.
Small creators, local creators and professions were being offered the services where they could sell their products, professional services, host webinar and more. The reports emphasised that the website page of Minis features store operators who sell a range of products on their platform.
Earlier this year, Swiggy had temporarily suspended its on-demand pickup and drop service, Swiggy Genie, citing operational constraints, leaving users puzzled and unable to book deliveries. The feature, active in nearly 70 cities, showed a temporarily unavailable message throughout the day in metros like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR
