Zomato To Shut Down Rapid Food Delivery Service ‘Quick’

Deepinder Goyal states that the company was not seeing a path to profitability in these initiatives without compromising on customer experience

Citing profitability issues, Eternal (formerly Zomato) has decided to pull the plug on its quick food delivery business, Zomato Quick. The development comes just a few months after the company introduced the service as a pilot. The company is shutting down ‘Everyday’ as well, which was a pilot project offering home-style meals at affordable prices.

As the company filed the financial results for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2025 (Q4FY25), Deepinder Goyal, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zomato, highlighted that it was becoming difficult for the company to venture on path to profitability without compromising on customer experience.

“We are actually shutting down both these initiatives as we are not seeing the path to profitability in these without compromising on customer experience. The current restaurant density and kitchen infrastructure is not set up for delivering orders in 10 minutes, which leads to an inconsistent customer experience,” Goyal explained.

As a result, the company did not see any incrementality in demand while it ran Quick as an experiment for a few months, he added. On shutting down Everyday, Goyal stated that the company was not seeing enough return on investment since it was running on a small scale.

“With Everyday, we realised that the need for homely-meals is a limited use case, largely for office locations in metros. We did not see enough ROI by keeping it running at a small scale,” Goyal stated.

Hit by higher expenses, the consolidated net profit of food delivery company Eternal (formerly Zomato) slipped by 78 per cent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2025 (Q4FY25). The net profit declined to Rs 39 crore in Q4FY25 from Rs 175 crore in Q4FY24.
