The department of commerce says that India exported 344.2 thousand tonne of sweet biscuits in the previous financial year (FY26)
Reflecting growing demand for Indian food products across fast-growing consumer economies, Africa is emerging as an important market for India’s sweet biscuit exports, the Department of Commerce said on Wednesday.
The increasing presence of Indian sweet biscuits across African markets highlights deepening commercial engagement and the strengthening of India’s value-added food exports in emerging regions, the department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry shared on X.
Sharing further insights, Centre said that Kenya has become India’s second largest sweet biscuit export destination and the list includes Benin, Cameroon, Tanzania, Uganda, Senegal and Mozambique as well. The United States of America, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Australia are among key export destinations for the country.
India exported 344.2 thousand tonne of sweet biscuits in the previous financial year (FY26), the post by the department revealed. India’s sweet biscuit exports were worth USD 412.6 million in FY26, a sharp increase from USD 180.6 million in the financial year 2021.
“From established economies to emerging destinations, the growing reach of Indian food exports highlights India’s expanding footprint in value-added trade and its continued integration with global consumer markets,” the post added.
The department noted that with expanding market access and growing consumer acceptance across regions, India’s processed food sector continues to strengthen its contribution to the country’s export momentum and global trade footprint.
“India’s sweet biscuit exports have reached a record high, reflecting sustained growth in value-added food exports and rising global demand for Indian products,” the department pointed out in a series of posts.
