Veteran IKEA leader to steer next phase of growth, sustainability, and omnichannel expansion
Ingka Group | IKEA has announced the appointment of Juvencio Maeztu as its new CEO and President, effective 5 November 2025. Maeztu, currently Deputy CEO, brings 25 years of experience within IKEA, having started as a Store Manager in Spain in the early 2000s. He succeeds Jesper Brodin, who is stepping down after eight years in the role and three decades with the company.
Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, Chairman of Ingka Holding B.V., praised Brodin’s tenure, citing his transformation of IKEA into a leading omnichannel retailer and his integration of sustainability into the business. “Even if it’s sad to see Jesper leave, we have a solid strategy for the years ahead. Juvencio’s deep retail expertise and purpose-driven leadership make him the right fit for the future,” he said.
Expressing gratitude, Maeztu said, “It’s a privilege to build on the foundation Jesper and others have created. Affordability and low prices are more than a business idea—they are our responsibility to the many people. I’m excited to amplify the essence of IKEA and play a bigger role in life at home globally.”
Brodin reflected on his decision to move on: “I’m proud of how we navigated challenges, always guided by our culture and values. Now is the right time to hand over to Juvencio, whose commitment to business, people, and planet inspires me.” Brodin will remain with the company until February 2026 before taking on an advisory role with the IKEA Foundation.
The leadership change marks a new chapter for IKEA, as it continues to expand into new markets, develop innovative retail formats, and strengthen its sustainability agenda.
