Introduced by Amitabh Bachchan, the initiative enables consumers to hand over used footwear for responsible disposal during product deliveries

Footwear manufacturer VKC has rollout Zero Footmarks, an initiative aimed at facilitating the collection and responsible disposal of used footwear across India. The campaign has been introduced by Amitabh Bachchan.

The company said the platform seeks to address the growing challenge of footwear waste and encourage consumers to adopt responsible disposal practices.

The initiative was first rolled out as a pilot project in Thiruvananthapuram in August 2025 in partnership with the Suchitwa Mission, a waste management agency under the Government of Kerala.

Speaking about the initiative, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Conscious living has become a part of the modern lifestyles and we must lead the next generation to be conscious about everything they do and be responsible while taking every step forward in life.”

Under the programme, consumers placing orders through VKC’s website can hand over used footwear for disposal when their new products are delivered. The company said the initiative is designed to create a structured mechanism for collecting discarded footwear and diverting waste from landfills.
