Starbucks India Unveils Papua New Guinea Highlands Coffee

Limited-edition single-origin arabica celebrates rich flavour, craft, and culture from one of the world’s most remote coffee regions

Starbucks India has launched a new limited-edition, single-origin coffee – Papua New Guinea Highlands – marking a flavourful addition to its premium lineup. Showcasing the brand’s commitment to sourcing the finest quality arabica beans, this medium roast blend hails from the fertile volcanic soils of Papua New Guinea’s remote highlands.

With tasting notes of sugarcane and black cardamom, the Papua New Guinea Highlands blend offers a sweet yet delicately spiced cup. Its smooth body and balanced acidity make it ideal for coffee enthusiasts who appreciate nuance and depth in every sip.

Papua New Guinea is globally recognised for its diverse and culturally rich coffee-growing traditions. Beans from the region are cultivated in smallholder coffee gardens, where families grow just a few trees alongside other crops like bananas and legumes. Each bag of this coffee is a tribute to the generational farming knowledge and reflects Starbucks’ ongoing investment in origin communities through Farmer Support Centres that promote sustainable practices and long-term quality.

“Inspired by the country’s vibrant heritage, the packaging design features flowing wave-like lines symbolising water—an ode to the washed processing method that gives the coffee its clean, balanced profile,” said Starbucks in a statement. “A rich colour palette inspired by the Papua New Guinea national flag, along with a central coffee bean motif, ties the story of craftsmanship and origin together visually.”

Speaking on the launch, Vibhor Mishra, Coffee Ambassador, APAC and China, Starbucks, said: “We are dedicated to sourcing the highest quality arabica coffee from around the world and sharing those exceptional experiences with our customers. Papua New Guinea Highlands reflects that philosophy—an origin defined by care, culture, and craftsmanship at every step of the journey.”

The Papua New Guinea Highlands blend is priced at Rs 2,000 for whole beans and Rs 75 when brewed as an espresso. It is available for a limited period at select Starbucks stores across India, where customers can enjoy it freshly brewed, iced, or as an espresso-based beverage.

With this launch, Starbucks continues to deepen its focus on single-origin coffees and sustainable sourcing, offering Indian coffee lovers a rare taste of one of the world’s most remote and flavourful growing regions.
