DS Group’s Catch Spices Enters The Rs 1000 Cr Club

Catch Spices, a flagship brand of the Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the Rs 1000 crore mark in revenue. This remarkable feat comes on the heels of an impressive year-on-year growth rate of 24 percent over the last two years, solidifying Catch Spices’ position as a key player in the packaged spice industry.

With major plans for the future, Catch Spices aims to accelerate its business within the spices category, targeting a projected Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of approximately 30 per cent over the next five years. The company intends to achieve this growth through strategic expansions and diversification into new product categories, including herbs, gourmet gravies, cooking pastes, and more.

Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman of DS Group, expressed his pride in Catch Spices’ achievement, attributing it to the brand’s relentless pursuit of excellence and consumer-centric approach. He highlighted Catch Spices’ consistent quality and reliability, coupled with its understanding of evolving consumer tastes, as key factors driving its success.

Since its inception in 1987, Catch Spices has evolved from offering table-top salt sprinklers to encompassing a wide range of spice blends, pastes, and whole spices across nine categories, totaling more than 125 variants and 300 SKUs. The brand’s products are now available in over 7 lakh retail touchpoints through 1500 distributors nationwide, reaching more than 2 crore households in India.

In adapting to changing consumer behaviour and market trends, Catch Spices has leveraged modern trade and e-commerce platforms to its advantage, witnessing exceptional growth that outperforms industry standards. Despite challenges such as regional competition and commodity rate fluctuations, the brand remains resilient and agile, driven by its commitment to innovation and consumer satisfaction.

The packaged spices industry in India witnessed substantial growth in 2023, reaching approximately Rs 34,000 crores, with Catch Spices surpassing industry trends by achieving a growth rate of more than 23 per cent and a volume growth double that of the industry.

Catch Spices’ success can also be attributed to its impactful marketing campaigns and strategic partnerships. With prominent brand ambassadors such as Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kirti Kharbanda, the brand has garnered widespread acclaim for its campaign “Kyunki khana sirf Khana nahi hota,” emphasising the emotional significance of food in people’s lives.

Looking ahead, Catch Spices remains committed to its mission of dominating the Indian kitchen space with differentiated products that offer purity, taste, and convenience. With a focus on digital-first products and regionalisation, the brand is poised for continued growth and success in the years to come.
