Udaan, a major B2B ecommerce player, shipped over 2.25 billion items in over 23 million orders in fiscal year 2023, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Udaan claimed to sell approximately 10 lakh tonnes of basic items (fresh, FMCG, staples, and pharmaceuticals) and over 70 million discretionary products (electronics, general merchandise and lifestyle).
According to the the release, retailers in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi and Bangalore had the highest demand for necessary and discretionary items. Furthermore, Udaan said that 22 per cent of the platform’s sellers used digital payment methods in fiscal year (2023).
According to the report, around 900 merchants on the EB2B network sold items totaling Rs 1 crore in fiscal year 2023. 700 vendors were in the basics category, with 200 in the discretionary category.
Furthermore, around 600 dealers generated sales of more than Rs 2 crore within this time period, with 500 coming from basics and 100 from discretionary categories.
