Instamart To Train 5,000 Youths In Telangana, Inks MoU With YISU

Instamart, YISU Partner to Train 5,000 Youth for Quick Commerce Careers in Telangana

Partnership aims to build operations-ready talent as quick commerce scales beyond metros

Instamart, India’s leading quick commerce platform, has joined hands with Young India Skills University (YISU), Telangana, to introduce a skill-based academic programme aimed at preparing youth for careers in the rapidly growing quick commerce sector.

The multi-year collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is expected to train over 5,000 youth in operational and managerial roles across supply chain, dark store operations and retail management. The MoU was signed in the presence of V.L.V.S.S. Subba Rao, Vice Chancellor, YISU, and Girish Menon, Chief Human Resources Officer, Swiggy

Under the initiative, Scootsy, Swiggy’s logistics arm, and YISU will jointly deliver a three-month programme combining classroom learning with structured field exposure. The curriculum focuses on quick commerce operating models, dark store execution, last-mile coordination and service-level driven delivery systems. Participants who complete the programme and internships will be eligible for entry-level supervisory roles, including Store Manager Trainee positions.

The partnership also includes the setting up of an Instamart-supported Training Lab and Centre of Excellence at YISU’s permanent campus in Future City, Hyderabad, to strengthen hands-on and application-led learning.

Girish Menon, Chief Human Resources Officer, Swiggy, said the programme is a long-term investment in India’s workforce. “As quick commerce evolves from a convenience-led model into a core part of India’s retail ecosystem, the demand for skilled operations and management talent is growing rapidly. This initiative focuses on creating practical, industry-aligned learning pathways for graduates,” he said.

While YISU Vice Chancellor V.L.V.S.S. Subba Rao added that the partnership reflects the university’s commitment to aligning education with industry needs and building job-ready talent for Telangana.

The programme comes amid rapid growth in India’s quick commerce sector, which is expanding beyond metro cities into tier 2 markets. The sector’s increasing reliance on dark stores and last-mile delivery networks has created demand for supervisors and entry-level managers who can operate high-velocity retail environments efficiently.
