Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail reports higher quarterly losses amid rising expenses, even as revenue from operations grows nearly 16% in Q4 FY26
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) reported a sharp increase in consolidated net loss for the fourth quarter of FY26, even as the company posted double-digit revenue growth driven by expansion across key business segments.
The company’s consolidated net loss widened to Rs 163.81 crore in the January-March quarter of FY26, compared with a net profit of Rs 23.55 crore reported during the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue from operations during the quarter rose 15.74% year-on-year to Rs 1,990.13 crore, up from Rs 1,719.48 crore in Q4 FY25. Total income, including other income, increased 16.43% to Rs 2,113.67 crore.
However, rising operational costs continued to weigh on profitability. Total expenses climbed around 16% year-on-year to Rs 2,287.58 crore during the quarter, impacted by higher employee benefit costs, finance expenses and operational spending.
The company also recognised exceptional expenses related to the implementation impact of new labour codes during the quarter.
For the full financial year FY26, ABFRL’s consolidated loss widened significantly to Rs 829.89 crore, compared with Rs 455.8 crore in FY25. Meanwhile, annual consolidated revenue from operations increased 12.29% to Rs 8,486.53 crore.
During the March quarter, the retailer added 70 new stores across businesses including Pantaloons, TMRW brands, TASVA and TCNS.
The company’s Pantaloons business generated revenue of Rs 1,048.3 crore in Q4 FY26, while the Ethnic and Others segment contributed Rs 950.2 crore.
ABFRL has been restructuring its business following the demerger of its Madura business into a separately listed entity, Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands (ABLBL), which became effective from May 1, 2025.
The company operates a wide portfolio of fashion and lifestyle brands across India, including Pantaloons, Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England, along with partnerships in premium and ethnic fashion segments.
