The new wedding collection draws inspiration from the energy and anticipation of a badminton match, bringing together traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary menswear across sherwanis, kurtas, bandis and tuxedos
Indian menswear label Gargee Designers has unveiled its latest wedding collection, ‘The Match Point’, drawing inspiration from the energy, anticipation and defining moments of a badminton match to reimagine wedding dressing for the modern groom.
Built around the idea that a wedding is not just a single-day celebration but a journey comprising several rituals, occasions and emotions, the collection seeks to offer grooms a versatile wardrobe spanning traditional ceremonies to evening receptions.
The collection combines Indian craftsmanship and tailoring with contemporary silhouettes, colours, textures and styling. It features an extensive range of sherwanis, kurtas, bandis and tuxedos, designed to give modern grooms greater flexibility in choosing outfits for different wedding occasions.
From First Serve To Match Point
The concept behind The Match Point draws a parallel between the progression of a badminton match and the journey towards a wedding. Just as a match builds from the first serve through moments of anticipation and momentum before reaching the decisive match point, a wedding comprises a series of occasions that culminate in the big day.
The collection aims to capture this progression through varied silhouettes and design treatments, encouraging grooms to look beyond a single traditional wedding outfit.
Ravi Gupta, Creative Designer and Director, Gargee Designers, said, “A wedding is a very special and very personal journey filled with many moments and emotions, not only for a bride but also for the groom. It is much like a badminton match that builds towards the match point.
“With Gargee Designers’ new launch, ‘The Match Point’, we want to shift the feeling towards expectations, positive vibes and celebrating menswear. We focus on making a collection that allows grooms to dress confidently for every occasion while staying connected to the workmanship and tailoring that give credibility to Gargee Designers.”
A Wardrobe For Every Wedding Occasion
The sherwani edit features stitched detailing and textured fabrics in a broad palette of shades, including ivory, champagne, ice blue and classic gold. The designs retain traditional elements while introducing contemporary textures and construction aimed at today’s groom.
The kurta collection offers greater variety through printed, embroidered, textured and mirror-work designs, while the tuxedo range introduces a sharper and more contemporary aesthetic for evening celebrations and formal occasions.
The overall collection focuses on comfort, versatility and individuality, allowing grooms to create different looks across the wedding calendar rather than relying on one statement outfit.
Giving Grooms More Choice
The Match Point also reflects the changing approach to Indian wedding fashion, where menswear is increasingly moving beyond conventional silhouettes and limited colour palettes. By offering multiple styles, patterns and colours, Gargee Designers is encouraging grooms to experiment while retaining the elegance associated with traditional Indian wedding dressing.
The collection is positioned as a complete wedding wardrobe, enabling men to select outfits according to the mood, formality and character of each occasion.
“This new launch and collection is our way of celebrating not just the end moments, but every single step that leads to a special day,” Gupta added.
Pricing And Collection Range
The Match Point collection is priced across different categories to cater to a range of wedding occasions and requirements. Kurtas and bandi sets start at Rs 20,000 and go up to Rs 60,000, while sherwanis start at Rs 50,000 and extend to Rs 2 lakh.
With The Match Point, Gargee Designers is seeking to combine its tailoring heritage with a contemporary narrative around groom fashion, positioning the wedding wardrobe as a collection of distinct looks that celebrates every milestone on the way to the big day.
