The 30 ml scalp serum uses Y100, a mitochondrial-focused ingredient, and is priced at Rs 1,499
Arata has introduced MitoActive, a new hair growth serum that focuses on mitochondrial biology as an emerging area of research in hair loss. The launch marks the hair and scalp care company’s entry into mitochondrial science and longevity-focused beauty.
The company said MitoActive is powered by Y100, an ingredient discovered by Yuva Biosciences Inc. Arata said the ingredient is backed by more than six years of research and five-plus clinical studies.
According to the company, Y100 demonstrated reduced hair shedding, an improved anagen-to-telogen ratio and increased hair density in a clinical study involving Indian participants. Arata said the product is dermatologically tested for daily use.
The formulation takes a different approach from conventional hair-care products by focusing on mitochondrial dysfunction, which the company identifies as an emerging biological contributor to hair loss. The product combines a scalp serum with a patent-pending applicator featuring a scalp massager.
Dhruv Bhasin and Dhruv Madhok, founders of Arata, said the company’s focus was on understanding the biology behind hair growth and translating scientific research into accessible hair and scalp care solutions.
MitoActive is a 30 ml scalp serum intended for twice-daily use, with application recommended in the morning and evening. Priced at Rs 1,499, it is available for pre-orders through Arata’s website and is slated to be available on Amazon, Nykaa and Blinkit from August.
The launch comes as hair and scalp care brands increasingly explore research-led formulations and ingredients beyond conventional cosmetic approaches. Arata said MitoActive represents its move into mitochondrial sciences and longevity.
Founded in 2019 by Bhasin and Madhok, Arata began with hair-care products and has since expanded its portfolio around bioscience-led formulations and ingredient research.
