Goa To Not Allow Cab Aggregators Like Ola & Uber In State: Reports

Ola Electric Charges Up, Eyes Rs 5,500 Cr IPO In Indian EV Market Debut

The reports note that this follows the pressure from coastal belt members of the legislative assembly (MLAs)

Even as the state has notified the draft Goa transport aggregator guidelines 2025, it will not allow the entry of cab aggregators like Ola and Uber, as per the reports. This follows the pressure from coastal belt members of the legislative assembly (MLAs).

The reports noted that the coastal belt MLAs have stated that the state government should keep the guidelines in abeyance, and there should be a system in place for the taxi operators. They also urged the government to set up a system for equal taxi fares, as per the reports.

Urging the people to stay calm, the state’s chief minister, Pramod Sawant, stated that every stakeholder will be taken into confidence before any decision on cab aggregators is made, as per the reports, which added that hotels, taxis and MLAs will be consulted to put a system in place.

The reports emphasised that the taxi operators are meeting MLAs of each constituency and demanding their support to oppose the taxi aggregators’ operations in the state.
