Swedish home furnishings retailer Ikea is set to open its doors to Punekars with its very first city store at Phoenix Mall, Viman Nagar on 12 March. Spread across 32,000 square feet, the store highlights over 1,900 products, with 1,700 available for immediate takeaway and an additional 4,500 that can be ordered easily.
The official statement noted that after six years of being welcomed into Pune homes via online deliveries and serving 4,00,000 customers in this city, Ikea has learned what life at home truly looks like in the city- practical, evolving and full of everyday ambition. The company said that the people of the city are choosing smart, multi-functional furniture, calming earthy tones and eco-friendly designs that bring comfort without compromising on value.
“With this store, we are not just opening doors, we are further strengthening our promise to make everyday life at home better for many more people and Ikea’s presence in Maharashtra. Pune has been at the heart of our India journey for many years. Our main distribution centre here supports our stores across the country, making Pune a vital part of our value chain. Today, opening our first store in this city feels both proud and personal,” stated Patrik Antoni, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ikea India.
With large-format stores, city stores, plan and order points and ecommerce, Ikea India continues to strengthen its presence across the country. The company operates two distribution centres in India, one in Pune and another in Gurgaon. Opened in 2018, the eight lakh square feet Pune distribution centre continues to serve as the backbone of Ikea’s India operations, supporting and fulfilling stores across the country.
Ikea is currently present across four markets in India with three large-format stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, and Bengaluru, three city stores in Worli, New Delhi and now in Pune and one plan and order point in Bengaluru.
