BharatPe’s UPI app now available for all Android users, customers can make payments to individuals and merchants as well as do utility bill payments on the app

BharatPe, a leading name in India’s fintech sector, announced its entry into consumer payments by launching its UPI TPAP (Third Party Application Provider) service for millions of customers across the country. As part of this move, the company has rebranded its postpe app to BharatPe, aiming to cater to the growing number of digital payment users. The BharatPe app allows customers to create their UPI ID, make payments to individuals and merchants, and pay a variety of bills directly. Customers can create personalised handles with the extension @bpunity. The UPI TPAP service is now available for Android users on the Play Store, with the service enabled through a partnership with Unity Small Finance Bank.

The BharatPe app offers a range of payment solutions, including scanning and paying, paying to self, merchants, banks, and UPI IDs, checking balances, raising collection requests, and paying utility bills for services like prepaid, postpaid, gas, DTH, electricity, and insurance. Customers can also purchase discounted gift vouchers from popular brands in various categories. Additionally, the app features UPI Lite, allowing customers to preload a digital wallet and make transactions up to Rs 500 without using a UPI PIN.

Nalin Negi, CEO of BharatPe, emphasised the company’s commitment to being a preferred financial platform for both customers and merchants. “With our UPI TPAP, we aim to enable millions across Bharat to make seamless and secure UPI transactions for their individual and business needs,” he said. Negi highlighted the exponential growth of UPI and the company’s focus on catering to the needs of customers in Bharat. BharatPe plans to introduce more features to enhance customer experience, with the BharatPe app set to be launched on the App Store soon.

Kohinoor Biswas, Business Head- Consumer at BharatPe, noted that the rebranding aligns with the company’s goal of offering a unified platform for consumers and merchants. “We have reimagined the app experience with a renewed emphasis on security, ensuring that trust remains at the core of our offerings,” Biswas added.

Founded in 2018, BharatPe (Resilient Innovations) aims to drive financial inclusion for Indian merchants. The company launched India’s first UPI interoperable QR code and zero MDR payment service, and later introduced BharatPe Swipe, a card acceptance terminal. With over 1.3 crore merchants registered across 450+ cities, BharatPe is a key player in UPI offline transactions, processing more than 370 million transactions monthly. BharatPe Money, a group company, has facilitated over Rs 15,000 crores in loans, and the company’s POS business processes Rs 29,000 crores annually. BharatPe has raised over USD 583 million from investors, including Peak XV Partners, Ribbit Capital, and Tiger Global. In 2021, BharatPe acquired PAYBACK India, now known as Zillion, a leading loyalty program with over 100 million members, and received a Small Finance Bank licence. The company also entered the consumer fintech space with postpe and received approval from the RBI to operate as an online payment aggregator.
