CaratLane plans 40 new stores in FY27, eyes regional expansion

Tata-backed jeweller to scale presence across key markets, fund growth internally

Tata Group-backed CaratLane is preparing to expand its retail network with the addition of around 40 new stores in the financial year 2026–27, with nearly 10 per cent of these expected to be company-owned, according to media reports.

The rollout is expected to be measured rather than aggressive, with the company likely to focus on identifying locations in the first quarter before commencing store launches in the subsequent months of the fiscal year. At present, only a limited portion of its existing outlets are directly owned, reflecting its largely franchise-led model.

Geographically, the expansion is set to be concentrated in northern, eastern, and southern India, where the brand sees stronger growth opportunities. In contrast, additions in western markets are expected to remain limited, as the company already has a relatively established presence in the region and is focusing on improving store-level productivity before undertaking further expansion there.

The reports noted that the company is expected to fund the planned store additions through internal accruals, without relying on external borrowing. CaratLane is also targeting high double-digit growth in the current financial year, supported by new product offerings, affordable offerings, and sustained marketing initiatives aimed at strengthening consumer demand.

On the international front, the company is gradually expanding its physical retail footprint in the United States, with a second store in Dallas expected to open soon, adding to its existing presence in New Jersey. In addition to offline expansion, CaratLane continues to ship its products to multiple global markets, including the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Further, the company is said to be exploring opportunities to expand its presence in West Asia as part of its broader international growth strategy. Meanwhile, on the manufacturing side, CaratLane operates three facilities in India, including two in Mumbai and one in Chennai, with the latter undergoing refurbishment and expected to resume operations shortly.
