BIS Raids 22 Ecommerce Warehouses For Certification Violations Since FY25

Centre says that BIS has found 142 uncertified products in ecommerce market surveillance FY2024–25

As the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted market surveillance of products sold through ecommerce and quick commerce platforms, a total of 344 samples were procured in the financial year 2025 (FY25). Out of these, 142 samples were found to be without a valid BIS certification, the Centre told parliament.

In a written response in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, BL Verma highlighted that since FY25, investigations into these violations have led to search and seizure operations at 22 warehouses of ecommerce platforms.

“These include three search and seizure operations each in the States/union territoriess of Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra; two search and seizure operations each in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu; and one search and seizure operation each in Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand,” Verma noted.

As far as the company-wise details of the warehouses are concerned, it included 14 warehouses of Amazon, seven warehouses of Instakart and one warehouse of Blinkit, the official statement added, while noting that a series of enforcement raids have been conducted on dark stores of ecommerce companies.
