Barista Coffee Crosses 500-Café Milestone With New Outlet In Patna

Homegrown coffee chain marks 26 years in India, deepens focus on Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities

India’s homegrown coffee chain Barista Coffee has reached a significant milestone with the launch of its 500th café at Shaguna Mor in Patna, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most recognisable café brands. The opening coincides with Barista completing 26 years of operations in India, marking a defining moment in its journey of shaping the nation’s café culture.

The choice of Patna for the landmark outlet highlights Barista’s strategic emphasis on emerging cities, where rapid urbanisation, rising disposable incomes and a growing appetite for premium yet accessible café experiences are fuelling demand. The move underlines the brand’s confidence in the growth potential of Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets, which have increasingly become key drivers of expansion for organised food and beverage players.

Founded in 2000, Barista has evolved from a pioneering coffee chain into a nationwide network spanning more than 165 cities. With 500 cafés now operational, the brand’s footprint reflects sustained expansion beyond metropolitan centres and a deeper penetration into smaller cities, while maintaining its focus on quality, consistency and innovation.

Commenting on the milestone, Rajat Agrawal, Chief Executive Officer, Barista Coffee, said the opening of the 500th café represents a major step in the company’s long-term growth strategy. “We are delighted to achieve another significant milestone in our growth journey with the launch of our 500th café in Patna. The launch signifies Barista’s commitment to the Indian coffee market and reflects steady growth across the region,” he said.

Agrawal added that the brand’s 26-year journey has been anchored in customer trust and operational consistency. “Maintaining quality and consistency has always remained at the core of our brand. This journey has been shaped by the dedication of our partners and teams nationwide, who have played a vital role in strengthening Barista’s presence across the country,” he noted.

With a strong and balanced footprint across metros as well as Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, Barista continues to consolidate its position as India’s leading homegrown coffee chain. The company indicated that the milestone also lays the foundation for its next phase of growth, as it looks to further expand its reach and deepen engagement with India’s growing community of coffee consumers.

Established in 2000, Barista Coffee Company is widely regarded as a pioneer of café culture in India. The chain offers a relaxed, contemporary café experience, positioning its outlets as social spaces for conversations over coffee. In addition to India, Barista operates cafés in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, extending its presence across select international markets.
