Carlsberg India Adds Rs 100 Cr Canning Line At Mysuru Brewery

Carlsberg India Expands Mysuru Brewery with Rs 100 Crore Canning Line, Strengthens Karnataka Commitment

New canning line boosts production capacity to 22,000 cans per hour, supports sustainable brewing, local employment, and state excise revenue

Carlsberg India has commissioned a new canning line at its Mysuru brewery, reinforcing the beer maker’s commitment to Karnataka after pledging a Rs 350 crore expansion at Invest Karnataka 2025. The latest addition, set up with an investment of Rs 100 crore, will increase the brewery’s production to 22,000 cans per hour, enabling the company to meet rising domestic demand.

Nilesh Patel, managing director of Carlsberg India, said the new capacity would help the company produce international-quality beers sustainably, while also contributing to state excise revenue and creating both direct and indirect jobs for the local community.

At the inauguration, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, member of Karnataka’s Legislative Council, noted that Carlsberg’s continued investments reflect confidence in the state’s industrial ecosystem. “It will support regional development through increased employment opportunities and local economic activity, particularly in Mysuru,” he said.

Located in Nanjangud taluk, the 28-acre Mysuru brewery produces Carlsberg and Tuborg brands. The facility runs biomass boilers fueled by husk and biogas and meets nearly 85 per cent of its electricity needs through solar power. Carlsberg India is also engaged in water conservation initiatives, partnering with WaterAid and local communities to promote sustainable water management practices.

The Denmark-headquartered brewer entered India in 2007 and now operates 14 breweries, including eight company-owned state-of-the-art facilities and seven contract-based units. Its brand portfolio includes Carlsberg Smooth, Carlsberg Elephant, Tuborg Strong, and Tuborg Classic.

Earlier, in September 2025, Carlsberg India signed an MoU with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries at World Food India 2025, committing Rs 1,250 crore to expand operations across key markets. Plans include a Rs 500 crore greenfield brewery in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, and a Rs 400 crore brownfield expansion in Hooghly, West Bengal. The company expects to procure nearly Rs 600 crore in raw and packaging materials over the next three years, further strengthening its production and packaging footprint.
