Paladin Wines Eyes 20% Share In Premium Wine Market

Italian label eyes 30 per cent volume growth with expansion into Goa and Karnataka

Paladin Wines, the Italian wine and vermouth label under Morgan Beverages, is accelerating its presence in India as it targets 20 per cent category leadership and a 30 per cent rise in volume sales. The brand is expanding distribution beyond core markets in Mumbai and Pune to Goa and Karnataka, riding a wave of premiumisation and evolving consumer taste.

Founded by Rohan Nihalani—also Co-Founder of Cartel Bros. and the name behind whisky brands The Glenwalk and The Glenjourneys—Morgan Beverages has built an identity around bringing high-quality global labels to India. Since Paladin’s selective introduction in 2017, the brand has firmly positioned itself as a key player in the country’s maturing wine culture.

Fast-Rising Volume and Strong Market Position

Paladin Wines currently imports 45,000–60,000 bottles annually, contributing nearly 20–25 per cent of Morgan Beverages’ total retail distribution revenue this year. It is also among the few certified vegan wine brands in India, appealing strongly to mindful urban consumers.

Its bestseller, Draggo Rosso Merlot, is one of the fastest-selling wines in its segment, moving 1,500–1,700 bottles in a single quarter. The broader portfolio includes popular Italian varietals such as Prosecco Rosé, Syrah, Pinot Grigio, Dry Prosecco, and Amarone.

Expansion Strategy and Category Opportunity

“The demand has been remarkable, and we’re preparing to double our volumes by 30 per cent as we expand operations into Goa and Karnataka,” said Rohan Nihalani, Founder of Morgan Beverages and Co-Founder of Cartel Bros.

He noted particularly strong traction for vermouth. “We imported around 1,500 bottles last year, but have already crossed 5,000 in off-season sales. With the festive season now underway, we anticipate even stronger uptake. The inconsistency in competitor supply has opened a clear path for us to lead this category.”

Priced from Rs 2,499 (+ taxes), Paladin aims to democratise access to high-quality European wines without compromising craftsmanship.

The brand’s Goa and Karnataka entry is planned for October 2025 with selective variants, followed by availability across major metros by May 2026.

Building India’s Premium Wine Culture

As India’s premium wine category expands in double digits, brands like Paladin are helping redefine consumer expectations around authenticity and terroir-led winemaking. With a growing appetite for global varietals and sophisticated drinking experiences, Indian consumers are rapidly embracing labels like Prosecco, Amarone, and Syrah.

Paladin’s European provenance, portfolio diversity and focus on accessible pricing position it strongly in a competitive yet supply-constrained space.

Founded in 2017, Morgan Beverages offers a diverse portfolio of international spirits and wines, personally sourced and curated for quality. Its portfolio spans whiskies, gins, vodkas, vermouths, beers, wines, and boutique labels.

As India’s wine market matures, Paladin Wines is well-placed to lead the next chapter—one where craftsmanship meets accessibility, shaping how India drinks and celebrates.
