Reliance Consumer Products enters ice cream market with Bombay Creamery

RCPL will sell Bombay Creamery ice creams made with real dairy cream, with prices starting at Rs 10 and a phased pan-India rollout planned

Reliance Consumer Products or RCPL, the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries  (RIL), has entered India’s ice cream market with its new brand Bombay Creamery, positioning it as affordable-premium segment, with a focus on ice creams made using genuine dairy ingredients, including real dairy cream.

The brand will offer its products across formats such as cones, cups, tubs, bars and sticks, with prices starting at Rs 10. The pricing is aimed at making dairy-based ice creams more accessible while maintaining the quality proposition of the brand.

RCPL introduced Bombay Creamery on 1 September, describing its entry into the category as a focused, long-term move. The company plans to leverage its nationwide distribution network, retail footprint and consumer insights to build the new brand.

Bombay Creamery will initially be available in Western India before being expanded to other parts of the country, RCPL said.

“We built Bombay Creamery around one simple idea that dairy shouldn’t need shortcuts. RCPL is not just entering the ice cream category — we’re committing to it. Made with real dairy cream, Bombay Creamery guarantees the promise of genuine taste of a real ice cream every single time, at a price every Indian family can afford,” T Krishnakumar, Director, Reliance Consumer Products said.

RCPL’s Product Portfolio
RCPL has a portfolio spanning food, beverages, personal care and home care products. Its beverage portfolio includes Campa Cola, which is available in cola, orange and lemon variants. The company’s Independence range includes products such as sunflower oil, wheat flour and packaged drinking water.

Regional food brands Udham and Mana offer pulses, grains and rice, while SiL sells noodles, sauces, jams and other condiments. Maliban caters to the biscuits, crackers and confectionery segment.

In personal care, RCPL’s portfolio includes Glimmer, Puric and Get Real soaps, along with hair-care products from Brylcreem and Toni & Guy.

The company’s home-care portfolio includes dishwashing, laundry and household cleaning products. Dozo offers dishwashing bars and liquids, while Enzo sells detergent powders, liquids and laundry bars. HomeGuard focuses on floor cleaners and toilet-cleaning liquids.
